I am still wishing I could talk to Glenn. I sure do miss her, just as much as I did at first. I'm thinking it will never end. Love you Glenn.

I miss Glenn all the time. Thinking of all the things we did together and laughed about. We saw each other almost every day after dinner and spent at least an hour grousing about things that bugged us. Wish I could still do that.

Glenore helped us all in many ways. Many of our relatives and friends headed to AZ in their declining years and Glennie always helped them to get settled. But more than that she provided oversight and care for many in their final years--her mother-in-law, her mother, her stepmother, her father, Lyle, and probably others.

Glennie was a beautiful and wonderful person. She was always there for me in troubled times. Glennie always made the effort to come to all events, even my wedding! She also remembered her family history and saved it for all of the grandkids. I was in college and couldn't get there much, but she saved Grandma's rocking chair and a box of 'stuff"for me since not too many of us like antiques. I still have the chair in my bedroom! When I started a music program at my school, she was there for me with info and guidance. My tears and smiles are knowing she is with her husband and my brother. Love to you and Greg, your family is there for you. Remember her in your heart, I will. She is another angel on my shoulder. Carol (Albee) Hammond

Glenore was such a sweet, loving, intelligent, generous, strong woman who I miss very much. I never got to hear her play, so thank you for posting the videos of her last concert. She was such a beautiful, vibrant woman. Hugs and love to Greg and Leslie, you know how fortunate you were to have her for your mom. And she was lucky, too to have such loving children. I'm glad I made it to Denver to see her last year, to give her a hug and kiss. Even in her illness, she had such a great sense of humor and the nurses loved her, too! Rest in Peace, Glenore.

Please look at the video section. Glenore (Glennie to me) didn't want us to come to her concert. Why, she said? It's just a bunch of retired people performing? But we really wanted to go, and I videotaped her performing in what was, I think, her last performance. Watch them carefully. In one of them she looks slyly over her shoulder to be sure we're watching. She said that she had never been taped, and had never seen herself on video. She was incredible and we were so fortunate to have been there. She was 2nd chair because she had missed a few performances, and didn't want to oust the 1st, but if you look at the video she clearly outdoes the others!

My aunt was the most incredible, loving, kind person I have ever known. I have so many fond memories of her when I was a child and a young adult. After we retired and spent time in Arizona, we were fortunate to be close by. She took care of my cat, Henry, while we travelled, even though he had an apparent habit of sitting on her piano! When we came back, she had just had her first surgery so we moved in with her, against her protests, to cook and do chores. So, Glen and I gossiped and did "girl" things while my husband, Lee, did maintenance chore things. A great time. She was so humble about her music and we felt so special to see her perform in person. I miss her so much.

I met Glen one summer when she with Roger and Shirley Coad would go to Village Inn on Wednesday nights so we could get a free piece of pie with our meal. I so enjoyed talking with her. With the encouragement of Shirley and Linda Jones, she started playing her violin again and they formed a trio. They all had so much fun. A lovely lady. Sorry I only knew her a couple of years.  Yes, a beautiful website with the beautiful music. Thanks, Leslie, for taking such good care of your mom.

One last remembrance. One summer, Glen traveled to northwest Alaska… by jet and small plane… to visit me. She loved adventure! She participated in daily life in the Eskimo village of Shungnak, visiting easily with Natives (who loved her immediately). With an entourage of children in her wake, we went about our chores of taking care of dogs, picking up mail, and buying food at the village store. One day, we went down to the river to feed sled dogs, and, lo and behold, a raven was stuck in a net covering a shed. We stopped several boys who were traveling along the road to see if they had a knife so we could cut it free. They did not. So we problem-solved and used a sharp object we found on the ground to cut it free… but not before it had hurt us both.  Wow, Glen was so brave! She never backed down from adventure.

What I will remember most about Glen was her love of children. It was amazing how drawn they were to her. One time, we took a classroom of kids down to Phoenix to see the circus, and Glen met us there. When she sat down with us, the kids instantly surrounded her, basking in her attention and delighting in her questions. They never left her side for the whole show, and I kept hearing her remind them to watch the show. The lions and tigers could not compete with Glen! That was the thing about Glen… she was always interested in people, big or small, and they knew it. She loved my own kids so much. My son Daniel in particular was very influenced by both Lyle and Glen while he was growing up as they shared a love of music. I would often hear Glen and him talking together… all rapid-fire music jargon. She entertained us all with stories about her students during her teaching days that were sometimes touching, sometimes hilarious. But what really came through was how much she loved those kids. For a while, I was one of her kids too, and was lucky enough to get a piece of that love. I will always remember her for being compassionate, unconditional, and kind.

I just got word of Glennie's passing. After losing our brother, Doug, Bob and I know how hard it is to lose one of our siblings. Some of these "old" pictures bring back a ton of memories of Mt. Clemens. I attended Glennie's wedding! She looked like a princess to me. The Ward's and Albee's have a ton of family connections and memories that continue even today. Sam and I add our love to you all and may God hold you tightly in this time of grieving.
Emery was my algebra teacher and Mildred got me into elementary teaching which I continue today. I tutor reading to elementary children after school which I've done for 12 years in my retirement. Peggy

I will never forget Glenn. She was my friend for over 50 years. We laughed together almost everyday and when we weren't laughing we were complaining together. I still think of things I need to tell her . She was a terrific person and a great friend.

Such wonderful memories have come back. Glenore was a colleague and friend for many years - I always admired her teaching skills and counted on her mentoring when I was a young teacher. A very special lady, she is greatly missed.

"Glenore was a fellow teacher at Broadmor School. She was such a charming and fun loving person to be around. I always loved going to the teacher's lounge when she was there. She was an amazing music teacher. My son Edward took cello from her and she was always one of his favorite teachers. I was sorry to have lost touch with her and have thought of her often. I know that she must have been greatly loved by her family and close friends because she always seemed so happy. I'm so glad that I have wonderful memories of her as does my son". Love, Kathy

Glenore was a wonderful teacher and friend.  She leaves a large legacy of her students who not only learned to play their instrument well, but are also set for a lifetime of music appreciation. Phil Pearce

Glenore was an elegant lady, an inspirational teacher and a dear friend. Such a handsome couple in the picture. Also I loved Lyle's music on this tribute.

Great job, Leslie and Greg.

Her Life

Our Mom

February 25, 2021
She was a passionate violinist, teacher, and political activist.  She loved the desert scenery as well as the mountains and passed that passion onto us....as well as her love for music.  Pets, wildlife, and tending to her many rose gardens also gave her joy.
She grew up loving to ice skate in Michigan and would go as far as jumping trains with skates on, just to get to the next best spot.  Her sense of adventure took her to a remote village in the arctic by bush plane, exploring the streets of Morocco at night, whitewater rafting in Iceland, and landing on glaciers by helicopter in New Zealand.  It was that same sense of adventure that propelled her to hopping a ship in the 1950s to join our dad in Germany after he was drafted.  She told of the rough sea that winter, but that did not bother her or the other young people.  As she said, they danced their way across the Atlantic and celebrated her 21st birthday on the ship.  Once there, she was the only woman that toured Europe with the 7th Symphony Orchestra in the viola section along side our dad (solo pianist).  In her latter years she got great joy from playing in the Silveridge orchestra and especially in playing & practicing with her trio group.  She loved to hike, swim, and gab with her friends.  She also loved getting together with her brothers and other family members.

She taught us the value of independence, but was always there for us to lean on when we needed advice or direction.

She was not only our mom, but our best friend. We will miss her dearly.

One of my fondest memories with Glenny was when she came to watch me race in the Tempe Dragonboat Festival.  She was able to meet many of my fellow paddlers, one who was 87 yrs old and tried to recruit Glenny! Everyone loved her spirit and how much interest she had in supporting the team. There was a lot of time between heats which  allowed her to telli me about her travels, one of which I believe was about her trip to Alaska the previous summer. I was always impressed with her sense of adventure and her "go with the flow" attitude. She has truly been and always will be an  inspiration to me. Thank you Leslie for initiating this Memorial site to go to whenever one needs to...
